Objects, from the handmade to the mass-produced, all carry energy. Whether it contains cultural or religious significance or an associated emotion acquired over time, objects have the power to influence your feelings and awareness. I seek to create a deeper connection with the objects we choose to adorn ourselves with. I am interested in the way jewelry communicates information from the wearer to the viewer and vice versa. The relationship that develops through this energy exchange is of the utmost importance in my work. I employ inherent symbolism derived from everyday materials to inspire certain feelings. Symbols may vary from culture to culture but some are more or less ubiquitous; water inspires flow, salt preserves and purifies, earth grounds, mirrors reflect reality. The amalgamation of such elements creates a function for my pieces. These talismans perform their assigned tasks on a subconscious level and act as reminders to adjust daily thought patterns.
