LAura Thul Penza
Laura’s artistic work is an expression of her love of architecture and her passion for hand-crafted art for everyday use and adornment. Architecture thoughtfully connects materials and forms to design functional spaces that bring shelter, function, efficiency and even joy. Art is very much the same - form follows function at a much smaller scale. Inspired by the geometry of Architecture and Nature, she enjoys combining different materials, textures, colors and patterns. A variety of colors are created by anodizing Niobium and Titanium, hand painting acrylic ink on Copper, hand painting Mason Stains on Porcelain, and enameling Copper and Brass.
After a 4-year hiatus from her artistic production, Laura is now a retired architect and excited to get back into her creative art. Most recently, she is adaptively reusing her collection of Vintage Tins to create colorful and unique works of art for adornment. Components of earrings and pendants are connected with Sterling Silver wire and enhanced with a variety of beads and findings.
