Art Jewelry History + Technique: Ancient Egyptian

In this class, students will learn about art and jewelry history from Ancient Egypt while also learning hands-on studio techniques from the era. Items of jewelry and their meaning and use in Egyptian society will be discussed. Carving, personalized hieroglyphic cartouches, chasing, inlay, and sand casting will be covered. Students will learn about the design hallmarks, language, and materials of the time and design works that use the era as an influence. Prerequisite: Intro to Metals + Jewelry or equivalent experience.
